ALL-STAR SUCCESS STORIES

TRANSPORTATION ALL-STAR AWARDS

Each year in spring, goDCgo recognizes All-Star employers, schools, and residential properties for going above and beyond to promote sustainable transportation and implementing robust commuter benefits programs and amenities at goDCgo Transportation All-Star Awards. The exclusive award ceremony in an elite DC location provides attendees with food, networking, keynote speakers, awards, and more! Get your invite by becoming a Transportation All-Star.

8th Annual Transportation All-Star Awards

The 8th Annual Transportation All-Star Awards was held on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library. It was a great evening of networking, speakers, amazing food, and celebrating DC employers, schools, and multi-family residential properties for their exceptional commitment to sustainable transportation. A special thank you to our honored guests and speakers, including the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) Acting Director, Sharon Kershbaum.

Below you will find our 2024 award winners along with photos from the event.

2024 Award Winners

  • Employer Emerging Commuter Program

International Baccalaureate took the initiative and reached out to goDCgo to become compliant with the DC Parking Cashout Law before they even arrived in the District. From there, their relationship with goDCgo blossomed, working with us to offer Capital Bikeshare Corporate memberships, bike racks, and showers. They make efforts to incorporate sustainable transportation into all of their practices, inviting goDCgo to participate in employee events such as wellness fairs.

  • School Emerging Commuter Program

Two Rivers PCS – Young Campus has gone above and beyond in the last year to promote sustainable transportation. From creating a Transportation Demand Management (TDM) plan to enrolling in SchoolPool and connecting goDCgo with their PTA, Two Rivers Young continually makes a positive impact on their community and encourages students, families, and staff to commute sustainably.

  • Employee Transportation Coordinator of the Year

Kristina Rowley of Dumbarton Oaks makes it a priority to learn about every goDCgo resource and transportation benefit available. She was the first ETC working with goDCgo to take the time to learn about the Lyft Pass program, present the opportunity to her organization, and they ultimately implemented it. While Dumbarton Oaks is in a difficult location for sustainable transportation, Kristina Rowley meets the challenge head-on while working with goDCgo.

  • School Transportation Coordinator of the Year

John Fitzmaurice works hard to make Coolidge HS a sustainable place. He has implemented a range of programs to promote sustainable practices, including carpooling and commuter benefits, and works with goDCgo to manage the Capital Bikeshare for HS program at his school. Despite wearing multiple hats, he is always on top of communicating with goDCgo and even bikes himself to and from school, setting a great example for his community.

  • Residential Transportation Coordinator of the Year

Kendra Powell of the 800 Southern Avenue Apartments goes above and beyond to make sure residents have the information and resources they need. She invites goDCgo to table several times a year and expresses care for every resident of the building, even coming out of pocket to make sure residents have what they need.

  • Champion for Commuter Benefits

The DC Water and Sewer Authority strives to be a sustainable workplace. They enhanced the health, wellness, and productivity of their employees through a series of employee benefit fairs. Additionally, they offer the SmartBenefits program (subsidizing $185 a month) and offer pre-tax salary deductions for additional transportation costs over the $185 limit. Over the past year, they also added Metro parking, making sure that sustainable rail transit is accessible to all who need it.

  • Capital Bikeshare Champion for Employees

The International Monetary Fund took the most Capital Bikeshare Trips of all employers in 2023, totaling 20,083 bikeshare trips. On top of that they also signed up 72 new members!

  • Capital Bikeshare Champion for Schools

Gonzaga College HS has done an excellent job of encouraging their staff to make use of their membership. With 32 active members, this school took the most Capital Bikeshare trips in 2023!

  • Capital Bikeshare Champion for Residents

Gables Union market is at the forefront of promoting Capital Bikeshare for residents – they had the most Capital Bikeshare purchases of any District residential property in 2023!

  • Outstanding Employer Partner

goDCgo and the Washington Nationals have worked together to promote sustainable travel over the years, making them a staple in our employer programs. Last year, after inviting us to table at one of their games, they graciously sponsored our 2023 Commuter Challenge with two PNC Diamond Club game tickets. Thanks to their support, we had a record breaking year, encouraging 565 Challenge participants to make a sustainable commute!

  • Outstanding Residential Partner

The NPF Foundation not only offers affordable residential properties, but also makes sure that on site property teams have the knowledge and training needed to assist their residents on transportation options throughout the District. They originally reached out to goDCgo for TDM zoning assistance, and through their work, connected with us to host lobby events and educate residents on sustainable transportation.

  • Most Unique and Innovative Employer Transportation Program

The Pan American Development Foundation was so committed and dedicated to reducing their drive-alone rate they hosted a Commuter Challenge of their own! In 2023 they added Capital Bikeshare to their decent menu of commuter benefits including carpool incentives, electric vehicle charging stations, employer-paid bicycle subsidies, flexible work hours, telework policies, showers and lockers.

  • Most Unique and Innovative School Transportation Program

Georgetown Day School makes a consistent effort to support staff and student commuters, giving transportation incentives to staff members who commute via bicycle or public transportation and encouraging students to carpool A Platinum Transportation All-Star, Georgetown Day School created a TDM Plan, enrolled in SchoolPool, and even participated in goDCgo’s Commuter challenge!

  • Most Unique and Innovative Residential Transportation Program

City Ridge offers four electric rental vehicles onsite, with over 135 residents registered to use them. Their parking garage offers free EV charging stations for residents with preferred parking. They also set an example in supporting cyclists, offering five free rental bikes, bike rooms and lockers, and a bike repair station for residents. City Ridge also sponsored a Capital Bikeshare station!
