With the DC Parking Cashout Law reporting deadline approaching on January 15, 2024, employers across the District are asking: do I need to report my compliance this year? To make this confusing time easier, we’ve put together a quiz to answer that question based on your company situation.

With the January 2023 DC Parking Cashout reporting deadline in the rearview mirror, it’s time for employers to start preparing for what’s to come. The next step for employers varies based on which compliance option your organization chose. The reporting deadline for the DC Parking Cashout Law has officially passed. We'd like to thank all our employers that worked hard over the past year to make sure their organization was compliant, and we're happy to have assisted more than 300 employers in the process. But we understand some employers may have missed the reporting deadline and are wondering what they should do and what to expect in the upcoming months. Well, you're in luck because we have the answers! Check out the guidance below from the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) for employers that missed the reporting deadline.
“If you missed the reporting deadline, please contact DDOT as soon as possible at parkingcashout@dc.gov. Employers who do not contact DDOT or submit a report on time will be audited to determine compliance status. Fines will not be levied at this time, but DDOT will work with non-compliant employers to come into compliance.”

To continue to improve air quality and traffic congestion in the District, the Transportation Benefits Equity Amendment Act of 2020, also referred to as the DC Parking Cashout Law, was signed into law by Mayor Bowser in April 2020. This law encourages sustainable transportation use and reduces driving alone to work in DC. Read on to learn the most important things you need to know about this law.
