Summer’s bountiful harvest is available now at local FRESHFARM Markets, whose mission is to promote local food sources and sustainable agriculture in the Washington DC area. Additionally, it is important to FRESHFARM Markets that local, fresh produce is available to all people, regardless of income or financial stability and they offer four programs to help low-income people buy healthy foods in our DC and MD markets. By accepting SNAP (EBT/Foods Stamps), WIC, SFMNP vouchers and offering an incentive Matching Dollars program they aim to decrease the access barriers to fresh, healthy food.
Not only can you get fresh produce but the markets also offer such items as artisanal cheeses, fresh pastries and breads, meat and dairy products, and plants and flowers. The markets are open well into the fall and some are even open all year long. Market locations are (click on each one for locations and hours):
