640 10th Street, NE, Sherwood Recreation Center (map)

The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is hosting an interactive workshop for the Maryland Avenue Pedestrian Safety Corridor Project on Saturday, January 28, from 1 – 3 pm. As part of this interactive workshop, the project team will introduce various safety improvement alternatives to the community to solicit feedback.  The improvement alternatives that will be presented entail the reconfiguration of intersections, adjustments to parking, pedestrian safety treatments, transit stop relocations and amenity options, the addition of left turn lanes, bike lanes, removal of travel lanes, and landscaping improvements within the public space. The project team will discuss the potential impacts and gauge initial public support for each of the various alternatives that will be presented.

Members of the business community, residents and other interested stakeholders are invited to attend this meeting to view the proposals and provide input. The meeting will begin with a 30 minute project overview presentation and attendees are welcome to stop by any time during the scheduled hours.

The project study area is located between 2nd Street, NE and 14th Street, NE, and includes the roadways along the perimeter of Stanton Park. More specific information about this project is available at tooledesign.com/marylandave.
